Maxis and Singtel partners to launch Malaysia’s first 5G platform | VanillaPlus – The global voice of Telecoms IT

Maxims met with Singtel introducing Malaysia’s first 5G network platform, edge computing, cloud and music services, built on Singtel’s Paragon for telco networks. The platform will make 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and 5G technologies, internet computing and multi-cloud more accessible to Malaysian businesses and accelerate digital transformation across a range of different sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, health care and social services.

The partnership was established during the Malaysian Business Year (MCY) 2024, an event organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to facilitate the country’s business environment. The exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place at Maxis house between Goh Seow Eng, chief executive officer of Maxis and Manoj Prasanna Kumar, chief technology officer of Singtel Digital InfraCo.

Singtel Paragon is a comprehensive solution that enables businesses to connect to 5G networks and securely run their computing applications and services on telco premises, thereby reducing time to market and shortening creative time. Paragon will also lower the barriers to adoption of MEC services, unlocking business excellence and innovation for businesses.

Made available in Malaysia through Maxis’ business arm, Maxis Business, the platform will enable ‘on-demand’ computing services, giving consumers access to low latency computing, GPU as a Service (GPUaaS) and storage. With its multi-access Edge computing (MEC) capabilities, data from end users and devices can be processed at the end. This combined with artificial intelligence (AI) provides real-time performance and intelligent decision-making.

Paragon provides a powerful marketplace available to Maxis’ customers and partners, enabling businesses to create network slices on demand and install critical 5G applications on MEC, with the click of a button.

“Our partnership addresses customer needs by providing a unified 5G platform that simplifies orchestration across networks and clouds. The platform enables greater reach, speed and flexibility a revolution for businesses to seamlessly deploy and manage 5G and cloud computing solutions,” Goh Seow Eng, chief executive of Maxis, said in a media statement. “This will help them focus on their core business, strengthening their global competitiveness. As the leading telco in the country, we expect to accelerate the adoption of 5G-A and 5G and the growth of digital for Malaysian businesses as a preferred digital business partner.

We have seen a strong shift in demand from businesses for 5G and computing capabilities to accelerate their digital transformation. Singtel continues to lead the charge, having established various strategic partnerships with telcos around the world and Paragon, has been instrumental in this adoption,” said Bill Chang, chief executive officer of Singtel Digital InfraCo. .” Paragon helps to rapidly monetize 5G infrastructure by reducing many of the challenges for telcos to deploy and reduce 5G use cases. We are delighted to partner with Maxis to expand and deepen 5G service and monetization opportunities in Malaysia. ”

The platform’s capabilities can benefit businesses with a wide range of business applications across multiple platforms that require fast data processing, such as real-time analytics, mixed reality and automated systems. . The platform will be hosted and deployed in Malaysia, addressing the cybersecurity and data governance needs of Malaysian businesses.

The platforms built and operated by Paragon are now successfully deployed in four ASEAN markets. With Maxis bringing the capability to Malaysia only, it will be easier for multinational companies to operate smoothly, with common expertise and integrated designs across the region. The move is timely because of Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, where the nation will play a strong role in leading the bloc’s economic and digital environmental aspirations.

This partnership demonstrates Maxis’ commitment to bringing innovation to market and enabling the Industry 4.0 revolution through real-world use cases. In addition to 5G and cloud-native solutions, this commitment includes leading the development of Malaysia’s next-generation solutions in artificial intelligence (AI) and Generative AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and technology 5G-Advanced.
